Arne Lijbers
Partner Architect, Mecanoo
Arne graduated from the Technical University of Delft in 2011, after having enhanced his studies with a term abroad at the TU Berlin. Since his start at Mecanoo in 2012, Arne has rapidly developed his design skills with a distinctive energy. He is specialised in translating complex project briefs into tangible designs. Currently, Arne is a project architect for a wide range of projects of different scales, from urban planning to furniture design. Among his assignments are innovative programmatic layouts, such as a masterplan for 2,100 dwellings in Haarlem, the Rabobank Advice Centre in Sittard, Student Campus Hotel in Rotterdam, LocHal Library in Tilburg, and interior design for the Train of the Future. A main area of interest is innovative living, working and educational environments.
From the project outset, Arne establishes clear and efficient project-wide collaborative practices to ensure the integration of complex information and procedures for optimal teamwork coordination. An effective project leader, he takes the time to connect with team members on a personal level. Arne has hands-on experience with all stages of the project, from the sketching phase and conceptual design to the delivery of state-of-the-art buildings.
