Colin Cassé
Director of Estates, HMRC
Colin Cassé, the Director of Estates at HMRC, has a career rooted in office design, which he embarked upon after graduating as a Quantity Surveyor and further enhancing his expertise with a Facilities Management qualification. His enthusiasm is fueled by the challenges of efficient design, space utilization, and the actual construction process. His tenure at Siemens was marked by significant achievements, including the rollout of a new office concept, correct sizing, and the construction of new headquarters. Notably, he was instrumental in building what was then the world’s greenest building.
Four years ago, Cassé joined HMRC, taking on the responsibility of delivering Phase 1 of the Government Hubs, a segment of the GMPP (Government Major Projects Portfolio). This ambitious office transformation programme aimed to establish new offices equipped with modern working environments, complemented by innovative working practices. Throughout this journey, he worked with an existing team, absorbed lessons, streamlined delivery processes, and tackled challenges head-on, even maintaining the momentum of the programme during the COVID pandemic.
His ambition lies in continuing to manage and deliver complex projects and programmes that result in creating exemplary working environments and other similar achievements. Currently, he oversees the day-to-day operations of the HMRC estate and serves as the Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) for the concluding stages of the Phase 1 Hubs Programme.
