Technical Director UK & Ireland, Zumtobel Lighting
In 2000 I joined Zumtobel Lighting UK as a project engineer and my first role in sales. I have a very fast learning curve and very lucky that the senior management noticed this. In 2008 I was given the role of Product specialist for LED, which at the time was in its infancy. I became a member of the Internal Technical Committee for Zumtobel UK and helped develop strategies and selling stories for the salesforce to use in the field. It was in the part time role, I began to be exposed to product development and manufacturing details. I used this information to create knowledge transfer to the rest of salesforce and using presentations that I had developed, to deliver training. This then moved on quite quickly to also doing external CPD seminars for clients, both inside and outside the organization. My technical knowledge on lighting, but especially LEDs, became a very large part of my life.
In 2014 I was given the role of Technical Training and Development Manager for the UK. This was a full time teaching and speaking role within the company. My job was to derive new content for lighting training both internally and externally. A year later my role was expanded and I took charge of a much larger role, becoming Technical Application and Academy Manager, Northern Europe.
Earlier this year I became the Technical Director for ZG Lighting UK & IE, responsible for Lighting, Education, Application and Design. A team of 25 hugely experienced lighting practitioners with a wealth of lighting knowledge, who drive the technical direction of the company.
