Angela Mitten
Programme Director - Science Transformation Programme, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew
Angela Mitten is a programme, project and property manager specialising in delivering workplace and infrastructure projects to support organisational change and transformation. Ang has over 25 years’ experience in property and facilities management across the public, private and voluntary/not-for-profit sectors in the UK and internationally and has led strategic programmes to refresh support services and change operating models in in both client-side and client-facing roles.
Currently Director of the Science Transformation Programme at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, where she is leading an ambitious programme to support Kew Science in delivering plant-based solutions to the twin global crises of climate change and species extinction, Ang has previously delivered change programmes working with academics and researchers in UK art and design education at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London and at the Royal College of Art. She has introduced new facilities and support services for English language teaching across a property portfolio in over 100 countries as Director of Global Estates at the British Council and travelled extensively to introduce new operating models for safety, security and on-the-ground field operations as Director of Resources at Amnesty International.
Ang has an MA in International Relations and Diplomacy, studied during her time at Amnesty, and has worked on a number of high-profile campaigns for IGOs and charities, including for Friends of the Earth and networks of environmental campaigning organisations coming together to lobby at COPs and other international forums. Her specialist interests are in sustainable and ethical design and the interpretation of organisational strategy into physical and spatial practices.
